Noor Weekend Academy

Noor Weekend Academy (Sunday School @ MAPS)

Noor Weekend Academy is Muslim Association of Puget Sound's (MAPS') Sunday school program in Redmond, Washington. We provide Islamic Sunday School educational services
and promote the t
eachings of Islam to Muslim youth and to inquiring non-Muslims.

Moreover, Noor Weekend Academy is a supplementary Islamic school for children who do not attend full-time Islamic school. It combines an Islamic education taught within an Islamic social setting where children can play and learn about Islam together. Noor Weekend Academy meets every Sunday during the academic year for three hours at the MAPS facility in Redmond, WA in the heart of Seattle's East side. It follows the Bellevue School District calendar for holidays in addition to the regular Muslim events calendar. The school is run by an all-volunteer staff, some of whom have been contributing at the school for 13 years.  The school offers 10 classes at 6 levels for students aged 4 to 13+.

Please visit this website regularly for registration, announcements, updates, homework, and information about class cancellations. As this website and email are our main modes of communication, please provide accurate and complete email addresses in the registration form so that we can contact you when we need.

Important Safety Information

Assalamoualeykoom All Parents

We have some important safety alerts to share with our community. As our Sunday school heads into a second semester, we want to ensure that all parents are aware of this information so they can remind their children about safety around strangers. We ask all parents to work with Noor Weekend Academy to keep all children safe by following our safety procedures:

Drop off
Parents are REQUIRED to drop off their child/ren in the gym. Children should not exit cars in front of the MAPS building entrance with the parent ready to drive away. This is dangerous to the kids crossing the parking and causes congestion. Park the car and escort your child/ren to the Gym. Children should not be left alone in the gym before 9:55 am.

Pick up.
Parents of Levels 1 and 2 children are REQUIRED to pick their children from their classes at the end of school at 1:20 pm. They can then bring them to the prayer area to pray Zuhr.
Parents of Levels 3 to 6 (inclusive) children MUST pick up their children from the prayer area at 1:20 pm, and then pray Zuhr.

Some parents wait for their children in their car at pick up time. Please be aware of the safety risks this poses since the parking lot is busy with people and traffic at the end of Sunday school.

The school is run by volunteers so please be respectful of their time by dropping off and picking up your children on time. For more information, refer to

Noor Weekend Academy community service project with ORR

We have raised $1093.76 so far for the orphans in Benin and Liberia! Masha Allah and well done everyone at Noor Academy.

But more than the total amount itself, it is priceless for every child to participate by donating, even $1 or 10 cents. The world has many problems, and we want every child enrolled at Noor Weekend Academy to learn that they can make a difference to the plight of less fortunate children, and moreover how Islamic values can be a solution to these problems.

Please discuss charity and zakat with your children and have your child/ren donate something (even if it be 1 cent) to help our African friends.

Please find below the donations per classes. Remember the two top donating classes will be rewarded at Sunday school.

Amount Raised for the Community Service Project+2016Displaying image.pngNoor Weekend Academy is holding a community service project throughout the second semester to help orphaned children in West Africa. We are collaborating with Orphan Relief and Rescue which developed the Anti-Trafficking Initiative in Benin to combat the rising problem of child trafficking in and throughout West Africa.
A $10 donation is suggested per student to contribute to our community service project. Students can hand their donation to their teacher during Sunday school.
Every dollar counts. The class raising the largest amount will receive a reward.
