Kids4Peace visit at MAPS 5-8-2016

I wanted to reach out to the parents of Noor to share a recent opportunity some of our students had last Sunday. Kids from Level 5 and Level 6 had the opportunity to participate in a program called Kids4Peace. This is an organization that brings kids of the ages 12 and up together to talk about their religions and their religious experiences. Students of the Judaism, Christian, and Islamic faiths joined forces to start the dialogue of creating peace within our religions through knowledge and understanding. Since this was our first involvement with Kids4Peace, our day was an introductory experience. We started the day by meeting and introduced ourselves while playing team-building games and get-to-know-you activities. We then had a chance to touch on the basics of each religion. This is where we got a chance to learn about each other’s religions and how similar they really are. Lastly, we broke off into smaller groups where students got to share their truths about their own experiences within their religion and what we see/hear/learn from the world outside our doors. It was a wonderful and rewarding experience, not to mention vital to help spread the idea of peace into this world that seems to thrive on pinpointing the negative parts of religion and their differences. We want to make a change for the better, and that starts with our kids.

We hope to have many more opportunities such as this in our upcoming years at Sunday school. If this is something that your child would be interested in, Kids4Peace is having a week long day camp in Seattle that will dig deeper on all of these things and more.

Check out their flyer Seattle Interfaith Day Camp 2016.pdf! And please, be a part of the change :)
